The Crazy Crafters February Blog Hop - "Love"

Thank you for joining the Crazy Crafters team for our monthly blog hop.
This month our host is the very talented lady that started it all for us....Sue Wdowik
Our theme....with Valentines Day a week "Love".

It's the time of the year we celebrate being in love, having someone special in our lives. What better way to show that person what they mean to us by giving something handmade.

I've always wanted to try my hand at Shaker Cards. Absolutely love them!
If done correctly, they are something different to the traditional card with just a sentiment on the front.
So after hours of searching you tube for an easy, hassle free tutorial, i finally found one. Man, there were so many, it was hard to chose. However, some tutorials on these type of cards gave me a headache as they were so technical. I really just wanted something simple.
Credit goes to Dawn Olchefske at "How'd She DO That"?. Great tutorial and I have just CASEd the card, as it was exactly what I was looking for.

Tips for making this card:
* Don't over fill your pocket where your "shaker" pieces will go. Otherwise the effect will be lost as the pieces will be too crowded and wont "shake" properly.
* Use Stampin Ups Shaker Frames for the best pocket for your shaker pieces. If you use an alternative, such as the sticky border from the Stampin Dimensionals Sheet, the thickness will be different and again, your pieces may not move around in the pocket properly.
* When adhering your sentiment such as a Thinlit word (as pictured in my project), use Stampin Ups Transfer Adhesive Sheets. This is less messy than trying to get small dots of glue on to the back of a small area of cardstock.
* Use Stampin Ups Glue Dots to adhere your completed Shaker Frame to your base card.
They are stronger and lay flat.

Don't forget to hop over to the next project.
