Rough Around the Edges

I tried a new and very easy technique after seeing a card made by Karen Hadler in NZ and I LOVE the results.

This technique is not new by any means but one I had not tried before because, well as I found out, you have to have all the right products to pull it off.

and I didn't......at first...

So let's start with the most important thing first... You MUST have 2 Tone Cardstock for this to work.

Thanks to a friend who came to my rescue and sent me a handful of different coloured sheets in card front size so I could make a few of these.

I embossed just a small panel down the side with the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder which is a mini folder however any folder could be used.

Then with the small and light sanding block I purchased from Bunnings, I very carefully went over the raised edges of the embossing, which gives you this rustic weathered look.

I've used the Spotlight on Nature Dies for the circle and the Extraordinary Flora Bundle to die cut the floral Washi pieces and layer them on the circle.

A simple die cut banner for the sentiment, stamped in Secret Sea and this card is quite elegant.

Im really happy with it. It would make a beautiful Birthday card but also a Mothers Day and even Thinking of You card.

Just remember, you need a small light Sanding Block and 2 Tone Cardstock.
