Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Sandi MacIver

Thank you for joining us for the first Crazy Crafters Blog Hop of 2017!
If you haven't joined us before, Welcome!

You may have just come from the previous person or you may be starting here at my blog Michelle Mills. If you lose your way and get off track, there is a full list of this hops participants further down the post.

I hope as you hop around you find lots of ideas and inspiration for your projects.

For this hop, our special guest is Canadian Demonstrator Sandi MacIver

As always, we get to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) the guest.

I chose this project of Sandis to CASE

I chose this particular card because I love the layout, it really pops and I don't believe I've tried a Triple Panel card before.
I also saw it is a great opportunity to use the Dragonfly Dreams bundle as well.
There are so many elements to this card that just work so well together.

So here is my CASE

I wanted to have a go at coloring the "Inside the Lines" Designer Paper.
I'm not the worlds best color-er and whilst I was just trying it out, I also didn't want to water color it just yet.
So I have just used the Watercolor Pencils on their own. My coloring certainly needs a bit of work, it does look rough, however I like to use the term "rustic"! I think I may just get away with it though.

I also didnt want to colour all of the pattern in on the paper as I feel this would make the card look too busy. So I coloured a feature in the centre and coloured only a few patterns around the main piece.

Choosing to use this paper made the overall colour scheme easy, black, white and smokey slate are a perfect combination with the paper being just black and white.

To add a bit of dazzle, I have used Wink Of Stella for the centre of the flower, which may be hard to see in this picture, but gives the card a little something extra.

One of my spur of the moment decisions was to also add a bit of Wink Of Stella to the top left hand corner, to a smaller flower, however, after I had just coloured the centre of the card with the brush, I transfered some of the colour over to the corner!
Then I realised it looked out of place and not how I pictured it in my head.
So activate plan B.....fix it by lobbing the corner off!
I'm not sure how I feel about how this looks......at least its different.
Then to take the focus off the missing corner, I added the Black Metalic Thread.

I also need to work on getting my panels straighter, I did find that challenging.
The left and right pieces were ok, however the centre piece tripped me up and they are out of alignment.
So to take the focus away from that along the bottom, I added the Vellum piece with the stamped image. This way the pattern of the paper can be seen as well.
Vellum as we know is difficult to adhere with traditional adhesives such as snail or multipurpose glue as it shows straight through and looks messy.
Cue the mini stapler!
Another of my favourite items for a rescue.
Then i just propped the whole mat piece up on dimensionals to give it a bit of depth.

So this card has taught me a few things so I'm very happy I gave it a go.

I appreciate you stopping by to check out my project.
A big thank you to Sandi for hopping with us!

Be sure to hop around and check out the rest of the amazing creations.

A list of the items I have used to make this card features at the bottom of this post.
Until next time
Happy Stamping (tap tap tap)
Michelle :)
