Extraordinary Washi

I've always been a lover of Washi. 

Actually if Im being totally honest, I have a whole box full of pretty Washi Tapes that I have purchased over the years.

It's just so easy to use and literally decorate anything. 

It's one of my smaller obsessions.

When Stampin' Up! released theirs WITH a coordinating die, that got added to the collection pretty quick and its a game changer!

With this design, I wanted to demonstrate two ways to use the Washi on one card. So having the coordinating dies is very helpful but if you like to fussy cut, then you can do that too. 

I started by adhering a full design sheet of the washi to some white cardstock and then using that as the background layer on the card.

Then I embossed a small panel for the left hand side with the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder and popped that up on dimensionals to give it some depth.

Finished off by die cutting some of the washi flowers to create the small cluster.

A simple stamped sentiment on some Basic Beige and cut out by hand.

No bling necessary on this one because of all the floral elements.

I'm really happy with this one.

Soft Sunflowers

I learned recently that a lovely Hello Day customers husband sadly passed away in May.

I wanted to send her a card to let her know I was thinking about her during this difficult time.

As always with these types of cards, I wanted to keep it simple and soft.

This is what I made

These cards are the hardest ones to make so keeping them simple really helps.

So I chose the Sunflower Embossing Folder in all white.

Sunflowers are so versatile and can be given for Birthdays, Mothers Day, any occasion really and I think they are also suitable for condolence cards. With this folder being so detailed, you really don't need much else to go with it.

I've used the Greetings For All Memories & More Ephemera Pack for a simple sentiment and I chose Thinking Of You rather than Sympathy.

A few Iridescent Basic Jewels and the card is finished off nicely.

I hope this folder is around for a while yet as I plan to make lots more simple cards with this folder.

Monochromatic Cloud Cover

One of my fave colours in this years In Colour release is Cloud Cover.

So when I saw this card, originally made by Janet Wakeland, I decided to CASE it.

There is something I love about monochromatic cards.

If they are done right, one colour isn't too much at all, as long as it's paired with a natural base colour like I have done here by adding a small touch of white.

I've used a pattern from the Florals in Bloom dsp pack for a subtle background, embossed the small piece of white in the background with the Soft Waves Embossing folder and then used the Thankful Garden bundle to stamp, heat emboss and die cut the floral piece to lay over the top.

When I feel like cheating, I use the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack to add a quick sentiment.

Finihsed off with some In Color Flat Pearls and I am extremely pleased with this card.

I am now tempted to make a version in each of the other 25-27 In colors too.

Darling Duckling

I had to wait for all the Colour Club packs to be received by the participants so I didn't spoil the surprise.

This is the card they received this month that I included in their packs. This month I chose to use Darling Duckling.

I leave the cards blank so they can pay it forward and send it on to someone.

I wanted to show off this colour by using it on its own and I wanted to keep it simple to demonstrate that cards dont need to be complicated.

I've always said, sometimes all you need is a good detailed Embossing Folder, some cardstock and a sentiment for the greeting.

The Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder would have to be the most popular product so far and you really don't need anything else when using this folder, the detail does all the work.

Ive just added a simple sentiment and some ribbon and done.

I do hope they like their cards.

Elements of Text

I love the vintage look and feel of this card and I stumbled across it somewhere in social media land but unfortunately, there was no name on the design. 

Credit to the original deisgner.

I did change it up a little to make it my own.

I've used Crumb Cake as the base with a touch of Basic Beige and these two colours compliment each other nicely.

I used the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder for an embossed layer to create some interest. A Blending Brush was used to add some patches of colour around this piece.

I've always been fond of background stamping so I used the Elements of Text stamp to stamp a light script background and then I came in over the top with a floral image from the Thankful Garden set. The image was stamped in a darker colour to stand out.

I added touches of Petal Pink for a soft addition of colour and actually sponged some on very lightly onto the sentiment die cut as it was white and didnt match the rest of the card. Then I just coloured in the words with the Petal Pink marker and it became the same tone as the card.

Finished off with some Linen Thread and a Tiny Bee Trinket and this card came out better than I expected.
