Paper Flowers

It's been a while since my last post. I have actually been quite busy! Unfortunately I was unable to participate in the Crazy Crafters March blog hop, where the theme was Punch Art. The girls created some beautiful creations. Fingers crossed for April, the theme - Masculine!

In the meantime, I went on a one week trip to Tassie to visit my parents. This is where the paper flower obsession started!
Whilst at the markets one sunday morning, I saw a lady with a stall selling these beautiful paper flowers. Her creations were stunning, single ones, bouquets, different colours. It got me curious as to how they were made. Like it or not, I was taking a few home with me and I purchased a brown and a pink one. When we got home, I got busy researching how these are made. Simply, its the art of paper folding or Origami. These flowers in particular are called Kusudama Origami.
So, I fell in love and then spent the next few days of my trip on the lounge room floor of my parents house folding many a piece of paper.
I just love blue, its my fave colour and I think the yellow goes beautifully with this shade of blue.
I have since extended my range and I am currently making a wedding bouquet of these flowers in the brides chosen colours of white, purple and silver in shimmer papers. Cant wait to see how they turn out. I like this idea of these flowers for weddings. You can keep them forever, they never die like a traditional bunch. The bride has a lifetime reminder of her special day.
I hope to be able to make one single one for each of the ladies attending the hens nite. A little souvenir of their night out for each lady to keep.
Well I best get busy folding..........and I don't mean the washing!!!
Until next time
Michelle :)
